A non-profit Swiss Foundation
Founded in 2003 (WHO World Health Assembly):
- Partnering for better diagnosis for all
- Vision: A world where patients will have equitable access to high quality diagnosis
- Mission: FIND drives the development and implementation of accurate and affordable diagnostic tests, that are appropriate to patient care in low-resource settings

Diagnosis is the first step in successful treatment.
- People with untreated cases of TB can infect others, and themselves can die.
- Incorrect treatment of diseases like TB leads to drug resistance.
- TB causes 1.6 million deaths and costs $12 billion per year in lost revenue.
Better tools are urgently needed
- Today's most commonly used TB diagnostic, sputum microscopy, is more than 100 years old
- Detects only half the cases of TB in patients tested
- Tests for resistant strains not widely available in the field
- Particularly ineffective for diagnosing TB in people living with HIV
What FIND is doing
- FIND is addressing diseases of the developing world such as tuberculosis that cost lives and money by developing better, faster and less costly diagnostic tests
- FIND has developed effective diagnostic tests that are now ready to be rolled out on a large scale
