There is no doubt that the most important intervention is the prevention of the MDR-TB, by avoiding all the errors associated with the development of further cases, particularly in settings where MDR-TB is already present in a significant proportion of the new cases (not to mention the retreatment cases) and to limit the transmission of resistant strains to other individuals.

What is multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB)?

If drugs are misused or mismanaged in the treatment of TB, multidrug-resistant TB (MDR-TB) can develop.

How is MDR-TB treated?

Treatment can last up to 2 years and is often accompanied by more or less severe side-effects.
